The Hoard Has Grown...
And now for something COMPLETELY different!
So.... it's been a bit since I took an updated pic of my collection XD This actually isn't everything. There's a Brazilian 1908 contract mauser missing that I only remembered AFTER I'd put most of them away following this picture (It was still in the case following range day earlier that afternoon and I'd forgotten to take it out for the pic, did take it out for cleaning then storage later though :P). It's good to have a *nearly* up to date "family photo" of everything. All pictured firearms are functional and have been fired at least once since I acquired them (many times, in most cases). Still working on finding slings and bayonets + other peripheral kit for everything that accepts/needs it, but that's half the fun! Also, it's a shot in the dark but... if ANYONE out there has an original set of Greek Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1903/14 carbine furniture, I'd love to buy that off you. Someone cut down the furniture from a long-rifle and fitted it to my carbine and while they did a really good job of it, it still looks wrong. Anywho, I'd be happy to answer any questions about stuff in my collection and I may post a pic of the various bayonets I've snagged too if there's interest. I'll probably move this to scraps later today.

Some are for defense, others because they're mechanically interesting, and most just for the historical collectors value. I'm just hoping some of the proposed stuff in the pipe from this admin doesn't come to pass. Like the proposed tax+NFA classification of seli autos and detachable mags..... I'd be in the hole for SO MUCH money there D:
I do plan to get into collecting some significantly less modern stuff at some point too XD But most of that is reproduction anyway, so I can always wait to get involved. Supply of these old warhorses, though.... drying up by the day.
That said, swords and other melee weapons are mighty nice too. Would love to see the collection.

Yup, they're all fully functional. As for *how*....
I've been collecting for almost six years and I've snagged most of these from local gun shops, gun shows, and some private transfers. Just takes patience and research to find them at good prices (and a good, safe place to store them all).

Both of my rifle No.4s came out of a recent batch imported from Ethiopia. My No.5 I got from a friend/gun shop counter man who sold it out of his personal collection. Thanks to that recent influx (into the US, at least) the prices should stabilize for the time being and they should be a bit more available. Granted, we're probably at the back of that curve right now, so.... best get while the getting is good!
Where did you find a wide green handguard for the PTR? Those things are so unobtainium right now that they are literally worth almost as much as the gun itself, lol. I had to settle for a black one made by POF even though it doesn't match my OD furniture. Oh well, *shrugs*
