At the insistence of a friend, I am posting this picture I drew for a coworker almost 10 years ago. I have had it in a sketch notebook in an old bookbag I used since middle school. She saw the dragon head I drew, my first submission ever, and wanted a baby dragon for herself, in these colors.
She never got to see the finished product. She went to college and never came back.
I've never thought of myself as an artist. My 3rd grade teacher told me that I should never pick up a pen, pencil, or brush in the name of art, after continually grading all of my projects as failures, even though they were semi-decent to me, at the time. It took me 20 years to get over that bad advice, but I only drew this one, the first dragon head sketch, and one more which I am also posting immediately after this.
