its your birthdayyyy πππ
i recently watched Willy's Wonderland with my sister and boygirlfriend and it was actually really amazing?
i quickly wrote this down right after i finished the movie (spoilers warning):
"just watched willyβs wonderland and holy shit it was so cheesy i loved it. the animatronics looked like shit and it was obvious they were just dudes in costumes and i loved watching Nic Cage curbstomp an animatronic gorilla into a urinal SO much.
itβs played completely straight and acted completely straight too. which i love. itβs like, two tropes in one: scary animatronics and small town in the middle of nowhere where something unbelievably fucked up is going on just barely under the surface, which is like. something i didnt know i needed in my life
iβd call it a horror-comedy but itβs more horror than comedy? it feels intentionally cheesy and a movie you can just like, watch and eat popcorn with. its not a masterpiece, it kind of sucks, but like, thatβs what makes it so good
as my friend pointed out, usually animatronic horror is all about subtlety and uncanny valley, letting your imagination run wild-- but like, willyβs wonderland is just over the top slapstick horror. from the very beginning the very first scene it lets you know these animatronics are fucked up beyond imagination
the fight scenes are insanely entertaining too. like. violent as hell but soo surprising and satisfying?? i dont know. like. Nic Cage crushes an animatronic fairyβs head between his knees and the way itβs shot is so insane and kind of hilarious
in conclusion. watch it. itβs good"
