A lifetime ago, she was the crown princess of the Dracul tribe of Roman.
However due to a coup orchestrated by the dragon Cadmus with the secret aid of the United Roman Federation, assassinated her father Deus and even tried to force her to become his bride.
Artemis decided to run away from home, stowing away on a ship to the Republic of Nahii.

After some time adjusting to a poor woman's life, Artemis happened to find hunting for her food came to her more naturally than most, and even enjoyed devouring her catches whole and sometimes still alive.
But during a harsh drought, she was left to starve due to all her prey moving south.

It was then she saw a shady pony hiding out in a shack near her cave, she thought long and hard about perhaps eating them, originally dismissing it as insane and wrong.
But as the days passed without even berries growing to help, she kept thinking back to that thought, surely the world won't miss one pony, right?
Again she shook it off, instead thinking that if the pony was living out here, that he may have some food stored there, some fruit at least.

She attempted to approach him, but as she spoke up, he immediately lashed out with a concealed dagger, slashing at her left eye, almost cutting it in half.
As the blood dripped off her face, Artemis' vision went red, only finding herself in the pony's shack, along with an enlarged, wriggling gut. She thought about letting him out, but well, he was clearly deranged and well, she felt so full and happy as well.

After he was digested and added to her figure, she found herself with a ton of extra energy as well as not needing to eat for the entire week. However at the end of that week, she was suddenly confronted with seemingly members of the Nahii guard and brought to Captain Ironface.
However, unexpectedly he didn't lock her up, instead he praised her for her assistance, the pony she ate was a drug dealer that Ironface's division had been "doing" business with for some time, his freedom for a portion of his stock and profits in the guise of confiscating his good.

However, after landing a huge deal with the local cartel, which allowed Ironface to arrest them all on the spot. But when it came to collecting the profits, he skipped town, obviously to "end" their arrangement and keep outta prison. But now thanks to Artemis, he's outta the picture, and they get all the money and clout for the cartel's arrest, a perfect ending.
He offered Artemis a deal of her own, to use this talent as well as her skills as a huntress to become a bounty hunter under him.
Promising to put this whole incident under the rug as a missing person's report, all for just keeping the truth a secret herself and 10% of her profits.
Artemis decided to say yes.
