Someone asked, so here it is -- the alternate version of "Kiki Fraggle" that I mentioned. The "mire maze" would be a large cavern in Fraggle Rock with a a sort of swamp in it, with ways across that only the practised know.

Incidentally, there is a swamp somewhere near the Gorg's "castle" outside the rock, what it appears to be more like a marsh, and very watery. In one episode the Fraggles travel through it a ways to rescue Philo and Grunge from something nasty called "McMooch."
