Devan is Avery and River's adopted cousin.
Not much is known on where she came from or how her dad came to acquire her.
Devan is a overly friendly and always on the go. shes Speed Personified, in all honesty. shes loyal, kind hearted, goofy, strong, and always willing to help.
When River gets kicked out of her house and goes to live with Avery, Devan is the first person to greet her and introduce herself. as River's family. No questions asked. She gets River a job, her own apartment, shows her around town when Avery doesnt want to (which is always), helps River get to know her uncle. Devan is a good person.
a perfect citizen. so, of course, people take advantage of her. But she doesnt notice...or, she chooses not to. she just wants to see the good in everyone. the world is already so horrible to people like her, the least she can do is give people the benefit of the doubt.
However, this gets her into some DEEP shit.
While on a patrol (she becomes a beat cop for the local Lycan Law Enforcement) she gets attacked by a random Lycan creeping around the streets. she goes to shift but this one is FREAKISHLY fast and tackles her to the ground. a moment before it can rip her to shreads, the Lycan is shot down and a group of military come to Devan's aide.
They apologize for the attack, stating that the Lycan got out and was out of their control momentarily. Devan accepts the apology and goes to carry on with her patrol. The Researcher of the group catches up to her and pulls her back towards them. He convinces her to come back to their base for medical inspection. Devan takes a moment to consider it....and then gets in their van and heads to their base. The Researcher's Assistant never takes her eyes off Devan.
While at the site, The Researcher informs Devan of what they do and what they want to create. They fill her head with ideas of helping the city and making it livable for all kinds of people- Weres and Humans alike. Devan totally buys into it and she races back to her Dad's place to inform him that she will be leaving to help them. Hes hesitant but wants his daughter to feel like she has a purpose.
The Researcher all but kills Devan.
He forces the Úlfhéðnar gene onto her in order to amp up her already insanely strong Lycan gene. Turns out, he had been watching devan for YEARS and took note of how quickly and effortlessly she can shift, how fast she was, how strong she was- every little detail of her was stalked and documented.
they push devan's body to its limits and mutate and deform her wereform to the extreme.
she can no longer Revert back to Human and is always in a state of panic and rage.
One person, and one person only, is allowed near her- The Researcher's Assistant, due to Devan Imprinting on her, VERY early on into their friendship. The Assistant, feels Devan shouldnt be here and needs to be free. She wants to break the Lycan out and help her escape, however, The Researcher would literally kill her himself or send soldiers after her. So, she makes it a point to stay by Devan as much as she can. The pair are inseparable now. Especially since The Assistant is the only contact Devan is allowed to have. She becomes reliant on the human woman. Although Devan is unpredictable now, The Assistant is confidant that she would never hurt her.
