Riboo's Musings
Alright, so like most Nuzlockes, you either completely ignore that death happens cause you memeing up that shit, or you really explore it, why it happens and if its a good thing or not what you're doing as a trainer.
Well, I didn't want that theme to consume the comic, because I gotta think about these characters having existed long before the story started and Pokemon being a very established competitive sport that's pretty much integrated into its society to the point that it doesn't get questioned or at the very least, there's some sort of benefit to it, something which Kai touches on here.
Yes, there's a lot more nuance to it, yes, there's people that would force a Pokemon to fight when they otherwise wouldn't want to fight, there isn't just one blanket, satisfactory answer to whether its ultimately a good thing or a bad thing so much its part of a Pokemon's natural nature to WANT to fight others, to want to grow, to want to excel, which their own reasoning for such can have a wide range of motivations, something which Kai, as someone that can speak with Pokemon, has a little more insight into. Battling is how they become more powerful, that's how they evolve and its shown that sometimes they can't even evolve without some form of outside help, so there's certainly an integral aspect to it when it comes to the human trainer side of things.
Also one neat fact that I picked up on (I believe it was in Sinnoh that its pointed out) Is that Pokemon appear to humans because its in their nature to want to help them. So....
In short. Zubats REALLY want to help.
Thanks for comin' to my Ted talk.
