Alo, unlike his older siblings, was born blind and even with the best healers; there wasn't much they can do since it was too risky to perform any healing magic or remedies to a newborn. Despite this, the King and Queen raise him with much love and care, along with his older siblings to help him navigate around the palace and the surrounding waters. On his first birthday, he was gifted by his family an Eel named Zell to serve as his 'seeing eyes' to help him swim about on his own; though as time goes by, the two become good friends as wherever Alo goes, Zell always make sure the youngest prince is save and on the correct path. He began to train with Grand Mage Cove, using the aura magic to help Alo 'see' and to highten his senses to better navigate the waters even when swimming outside of the palace.

despite having an seeing eye Eel and aura training, Alo isn't allow to be outside of the palace or the city limits giving his blindness though would still accompany his family to other undersea kingdoms and cities as part of a royal visit and such; but deep down, Alo wish he could still explore the wide ocean with his older siblings as they often told stories of their time outside the kingdom waters. However, Alo and Zell do have their own adventures and sometimes when no one is looking, swim to the royal gardens, slip behind several kelp into a small passage that leads to a small grotto that only the two know what's inside that leaves his older siblings curious, though the Queen knows but won't say a word as it is Alo's 'secret' grotto.
