A painting of one of my D&D characters, a shardmind invoker by the name Eve. Believed to have been lost under the sea for years, she was fished up by sailor dragonborns and raised to live on a small island far from the rest of the world. That is until she takes part in an adventure to not only see the new world but spread her faith to all.
Playing her however proved to be a challenge due to my biggest curse... my luck. about 4-5 sessions in a row I couldn't do anything cause all my rolls missed or crit failed. It got to a point where I practically was back seating most of the games. That is until this moment happened.
Seeing my party members dying/knocked out as we were surrounded and trapped in a dark boxed space. I knew it was now or nothing and that my character despite all her failures would not give up. For a bit of context for this fight, my character was magically knocked out before the fight even began. So when she woke after her god called upon her and saw the damage, with no hesitation she gave up her attack action so that she could teleport two characters to a safer area. Then with her, last move action stood over the body of the last person passed out, using her own body as a shield as with the last action I looked to the leader of the evil team. Realizing we share the same god I told him that his god belongs to him no more and that if he doesn't back down now, he will suffer before them. DM tells me to roll for intimidation. Mid anxiety attack I roll the dice... and it lands a nat 20. I single-handedly summoned the aura of my god to prove as much my words, scaring the shit so hard out of the enemy leader caused his team to lost faith in following him. They began to turn on each other, helping me save my team in time. This one crazy turn that I could have never predicted at all going the way it did, saved my entire team. I was shaking so hard the whole session after that, even tearing up a bit. After all those failed rolls I really needed this one big moment. It hands down will go into my top 5 favorite D&D memories.
