In the early 60s King Features commissioned eighteen billion new Popeye cartoons, which every studio in town churned out. They were five and a half minutes each, and took almost that much time to animate. One of them was the 1961 Paramount Cartoon Studios-produced The Whiffle Bird's Revenge. The Whiffle Bird --- the original magic creature of Popeye's world --- got animated, and the ability to speak (voice of Jack Mercer), and new magic powers. For example, to punish Wimpy (voice of Jack Mercer) for trying to eat her, she made him into a werewolf, because she was teaching the lesson ????????. Anyway, Popeye (voice of Jack Mercer) eventually talked reason into her. If you'd like to see my deeper thoughts about the cartoon, and the other minor Popeye comic strip player animated for the first time here, and watch the cartoon too, see https://wp.me/p37lb5-3ks sometime.
He's more buff as a werewolf but it's not really proven that he's stronger. Just he has less body fat.
