Wanted to paint a raven-- didn't come out well, so painted a coyote. Trying to get back into my artistic direction after being pulled towards other artistic goals (commissions).
I find I constantly struggle with letting go of where I "ought" to be heading with my work. "Is this piece in line with my values? Is it achieving a goal? Is it speaking to a relevant topic?" Etc
But sometimes I just want to paint.
