Little Polar Bear - ''In Love''
Yet another picture from The Little Polar Bear short clips series, that ran during the early and mid 90's.
- This shot is from the second-to-last episode of the series. In this episode, little polar bear Lars discovers a group of noisy, travelling older polar bears. Lars is so captivated by it that he doesn't realize that someone else is watching him. He's startled and almost falls off the hill on which he's standing. That's when he looks into the eyes of the most beautiful polar bear girl he has ever seen: Oxana. The girl has a beautiful, deep voice, and she asks Lars if he wants to play with her. Of course, Lars will not let himself say that again, and he runs after Oxana.
Every day from that moment on, they do many other romantic things: Sailing on an ice floe, picking flowers, even making a necklace out of fresh fish! Until one day, when Lars returns to the ice cliff where Oxana and he met, Lars sees the herd of adult polar bears swarming restlessly, and hears the herd leader shout: “PREPARE TO PACK UP, EVERYONE! WE MOVE ON!'' This startles Lars, because he is afraid that Oxana is part of the herd. And that turns out to be true. Lars searches among all the adults and hears Oxana calling for him. So she knows he's looking for her! "Yoohoo, here I am, up here!" she shouts. Lars runs to the polar bear that has Oxana on its back, and asks the girl, "Will I... n-never see you again?" "When the days get shorter, I'll be back" Oxana promises. And the herd of polar bears sets itself in motion. With tears in his eyes, Lars watches Oxana disappear into the distance together with the adult polar bears. "Really?" he shouts to Oxana. "Of course I wil!" she shouts back, "will you be waiting for me then?" "...Y-Yes!" Lars whispers, sobbing,"...I'll wait...!"
