It's always a bad idea to underestimate Draye when he really wants something. That's a lesson even Jack needs to be reminded of every now and again. Enjoy!
“Alright, how about this then: if two people switch bodies and one of them is a criminal, then which of them gets punished, the innocent person or the criminal?” Draye asked on the opposite side of the fire from Jack. The pair had found themselves once more in Ryuu’s cave, though the fire dragon had gone out hunting a few minutes prior.
“That depends on which body is getting punished,” Jack answered thoughtfully. “The mind and body of the criminal are in the innocent person’s body. So the body will be punished along with the criminal inside. Meanwhile the innocent person in the criminal’s body should be allowed to walk away free.”
“Why do you say that?” Draye asked with a curious smile.
“Bodies don’t matter in the case of identity. When it comes down to who a person is, their physical form is an extraneous detail. The person inside the body is what’s actually important,” Jack explained with a soft yawn. “My turn. A herd of horses is stampeding towards a group of five people who won’t be able to get out of the way. They’re certainly going to die if you don’t divert the horses’ direction. You can divert the horse’s direction, but you guarantee that they’ll stampede over a different individual instead. You don’t know any of them and they’re all complete strangers. What do you do?”
The pair continued their thought experiments, bouncing ideas and philosophical debates back and forth while Ryuu was away. Eventually Draye fell back while rubbing his temples, “Alright. That’s enough of that. I’m getting too much of a headache trying to figure this out.”
Jack chuckled and circled around the fire to lick Draye’s cheek, “Fine, fine. I assume Ryuu will be back soon anyway with dinner. I’m sure food will help.”
“Hopefully. Though in the meantime I sorta want to try something if you’re up for it,” Draye said as he rubbed around Jack’s soft ears.
“What did you have in mind?”
“I tested these before with Ryuu, but I was wondering if you’d like to play with them as well.” Draye sat up and grabbed his bag to rummage through it, “They’re talismans of a sort. Paired together. Using a spell in Elven you can switch bodies with whoever is holding the paired talisman.” He pulled out the pair of charms; one embedded with a ruby and the other with sapphire both of which had Elvish writing etched around them.
Jack sniffed at the charms and scoffed, “Switch bodies? Why would I want to be a human?”
Draye rolled his eyes and pinched Jack’s cheeks and softly shook them, “So you can do stuff like this without the threat of biting people’s faces off.” He let go and pulled back as Jack snapped his teeth at Draye’s hands.
“I have no desire to be a human,” Jack said bluntly.
“I’m well aware, but you could at least let me have some experience of knowing what it’s like to be such a great and powerful wolf.” Draye booped Jack’s nose. “C’mon, Jack. Just for a little bit. Ryuu even did it for a short while. It’s just to see what things are like. Besides, last time I tried to be a wolf, you ate me and cut my experience short. So really you owe me.”
Jack frowned and turned his nose up away from Draye, “I owe you nothing. That was simply letting you know that even as a wolf, you’ll still be food for me.” Draye sighed sadly and started wrapping up the talismans once more. Jack sneered at the sight before finally rolling his eyes in defeat, “But I guess I could try it for you.”
Draye’s face brightened and he quickly hugged his wolven companion, “Thanks, Jack.”
“Shut up and just get this over with. The sooner I’m done with this little experiment the better.”
“Yes, sir!” Draye answered cheerily, quickly unwrapping the charms and carefully wrapped the sapphire talisman around Jack’s neck.
“How do we switch back from this?”
“I say a few magic words once we’re switched and then we’re back to normal,” Draye said. “Simple really. Even better because we can both talk. If you couldn’t, then it would be an issue.”
“Right…” Jack said slowly, shaking his head to get the charm around his neck comfortably.
Draye stepped back from the wolf and began to channel his magic through the talisman while muttering the Elvish incantation to activate them. The ruby in Draye’s necklace lit up and hummed with magical energy with the sapphire following suit only moments after. When Draye finished his chant a brilliant light flashed from the medallions. When both recovered from the blinding lights they found themselves staring at themselves.
Jack’s body smiled and a moment later Draye spoke from it, “See? All went well. I’m you and you’re me. Though I suppose I’m simply me in a new form if our previous discussion is to be taken seriously.”
Jack within Draye’s body looked down and flexed his hands only to sneer at the sight, “This is horrible. I have no fur, everything is cold, and I’m on two feet.” He lowered himself down to his hands and knees and sat back on his feet, “How do you live like this?”
Draye rolled his eyes and took a short lap around his body and the fire, “You’re so much lighter than Ryuu. A lot quieter in your walk, too. No wonder you can sneak around places so easily.” He giggled and stopped next to Jack only to lick his face.
Jack groaned and pushed Draye away, “Stop that. It’s gross.”
“Aww, what’s wrong? You have no problem doing it to me,” He chuckled and gently nipped at Jack’s hand. “Just like you have no problem eating me from time to time.”
Jack’s lips instinctively curled back in an attempted growl, “Don’t you even try it.”
“I believe I recall saying that to you on several occasions, Jack,” Draye grinned toothily. “Why shouldn’t I return the favor? What are you going to do to stop me exactly? Eat me? In that form?”
“Draye, I swear I will—”
“Now, now. Jack, you need to ease up a little bit. Do you truly think me so cruel?” He asked in an all too innocent voice. Jack stared him down with a furious gaze. “Ah, but that does remind me, Jack. Some time ago now you did make a certain promise to me.”
“And what promise would that be exactly, Draye?” He asked as if he were challenging Draye.
“Once upon a time you said that if ever I got the chance to eat you and it wasn’t a danger to your life, you would let me eat you. It was when I turned into a wolf trying to just the senses.” He leaned in until he almost touch noses with Jack, “Do you remember?”
Jack stared back with a cold gaze, “You’re not serious, are you?” He was answered with a long lick up the front of his face. He grimaced and snarled softly, “Your breath is horrid.”
“And you taste delicious,” He said back smugly.
“I swear once I’m back in my body, I’m going to tear you apart.”
“And I absolutely look forward to it. But I’m looking to this next part more. Head or feet first?”
“You said it has to be safe. How do I know you’re going to safe?” Jack asked as he slid back from Draye’s looming maw.
“Because I’ve been practicing with Ryuu on and off for quite some time,” Draye smirked and stepped forward after Jack.
“He’s in on this?! You’re both lucky I like you two.”
“The luckiest. Now, let’s get this over with.”
Jack growled and glared at Draye with death in his eyes but leaned forward for Draye to begin. Before Draye could do much, Jack reached up and simply pushed his hand into Draye’s mouth. Draye blinked in surprise but accepted the offer and simply suckled on Jack’s hand. A moment later Jack slipped his other hand in to rest on top of the first. Draye huffed contently as he licked away at those hands, slicking them up with a thick coat of saliva before finally swallowing them into his throat. Jack grimaced at the feeling and tugged back lightly to find his hands were stuck in the tight grip of what was once his throat.
Draye took his time with Jack to casually lick over the other’s arms and slick them up well before gulping them, gradually working his way down the length of Jack’s human arms only to stop at his head. Jack sighed and wordlessly angled his head up with Draye’s jaws. With a few hard swallows he found himself slipping into his own throat. A few moments later he felt his fingers press up against and push through a tight ring of muscle into a much more open area that was his final destination. He wriggled and squirmed, worming himself deeper much to the relief of Draye who seemed to struggle now that he was working on Jack’s torso.
Bit by bit Jack slid deeper into his former body. He felt the back end of his stomach and bent his arms to allow more room for him to slip inside. When his head was in he took a deep breath only to start coughing as he breathed in the stale, once-caustic air that reeked of the remnants of recent meals. He let out a startled yelp as he felt Draye suddenly lift his head up, fully raising Jack off the ground so that his feet dangled in the air.
Jack grumbled as his chest slipped in followed quickly by his belly. Draye was quick to snap his jaws shut around Jack’s feet and with one more swallow he had successfully devoured Jack who was always so eager to eat him. The rest of Jack slipped into the stomach and Jack wriggled against the stomach walls that pressed in on him from all sides. He turned himself around as quick as he was able in the gut to face the entrance and push his head against it.
“Alright, Draye. You ate me. Now let me out,” He commanded while trying to force his head back up.
“Oh, absolutely not, Jack. Not once have you ever let me right back out. And admittedly I get why now. Eating an entire person can be really exhausting! Honestly, I think I might just take a nap or sleep for the night and let you out once morning rolls around.” Draye grinned and took a couple sauntering laps around the fire to feel his large gut sway back and forth with a squirming Jack inside.
“Draye, I swear to whatever gods you might believe in that if you don’t let me out of here soon, the next time I eat you will be piece by piece while you’re strapped down. I will let the vultures—” He was cut off as a rush of wind whooshed by his head and up the throat in a hearty belch on Draye’s part.
“Oh, wow. That was a big one! Do you always hold that back? That was awesome!” Draye grinned and sniffed at the air only to pull his snout back in disgust, “Ugh, I really do need to bathe if that’s what I smell like. Anyway, what were you saying, Jack? Something about vultures doing something or other?”
Jack didn’t respond. Instead the wolf-turned-human curled up in the gut in a silent rage to plot out his revenge against both Draye and Jack. Draye simply shook his head and carefully laid down on his side to let him press at Jack lightly with his paws, “Jack, you don’t have to be so grumpy in there. I know it’s not ideal but think of this as a new look on life. It’s not as if you’ve never been eaten by Ryuu or something before. And given how hectic and crazy our lives are, it was really only a matter of time before I got the ability to eat you. So once you’re out, even though you’ve gotten to eat me several times over, I’m going to say we’re even. And you and I both know that’s very unbalanced. Do we have a deal?”
Jack took a long while to answer back, but eventually he sighed and relaxed, “Fine,” He answered calmly, “But you’re not allowed to eat me ever again without my immediate permission. Doesn’t matter what I say otherwise even if we made some sort of deal.”
“I can agree to that.” Draye smiled and nuzzled at his gut. “Now take a few deep breaths and relax. You’re gonna be in there for a while.”
“Alright, how about this then: if two people switch bodies and one of them is a criminal, then which of them gets punished, the innocent person or the criminal?” Draye asked on the opposite side of the fire from Jack.
