"Trio Number 2" for flute, clarinet, and bassoon - by Devienne.
This is the first movement (of two). We performed this movement, and a selection from another of his trios, on the recent quintet recital I've mentioned. We chose two movements from two different trios and performed them as a set.
Devienne has been called "The French Mozart." He lived around the same time as Mozart, and was the first flute professor of the Paris Conservatory, though he was primarily a bassoon player. He wrote a lot of music for woodwinds.

Thanks very much! ^o^ I hadn't ever done it before. Our flute player suggested it when we were looking for a horn-free piece to precede the Harbison. Anyway the Devienne trios are really nice. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I think it's really cool that you've played it before! Isn't it fun?
how do you record and I guess upload to your pc to convert to mp3? Have you listened to Disney's beauty and the beast musical peace called Gastons waltz? Its an awesome piece. I dont know if they have it cleranet but if you could play it, that would be such awesomeness. I'm currently trying to learn it with flute.
Yeah, Flippant records these on his digital recorder. I then edit the files with Audacity, and then just convert the files to mp3.
Hmm... I think I remember the Gaston's-waltz song from the movie, at least. I'm not sure if they have arranged it for clarinet or not. But I'm glad to hear you're working on it, though! It's so great to find a piece you really love, and work hard to learn it. I'd be interested to hear you play it, if you sometimes upload/post music, too. ^o^

>//o//< Heeee!
I'm so flattered by that comment! I know most people come to FA looking for... well... "smut" as you say. But you do find some really nice art and music here from time to time. It's been really fun to meet and chat with some of the other musicians out there on the site. You should definitely look; there are some great pieces of music being posted from time to time!

The horn just isn't what it was back in the Baroque era. No tubing in the center, and it could only certain notes in each key depending on which crook was placed in the tubing (so it was slightly easier to play those Ds). This was also the case in the classical era, and why I usually had to transpose my parts. Not until the romantic era did the horn as we know it today emerged. Descant horns are ideal for baroque pieces. I don't have one of those, though.
As for Haydn, the only piece I've done by him was his famous trumpet concerto. If you're talking about the G like 5 or 6 ledger lines above the staff, that is CRAZY. If you mean the G JUST above it, I wouldn't have much a problem playing that note, as I had to a bunch of times for the Italian Symphony.
