She does actually come from a rather lenient sect that is like a cross between the Trappists and Templars. They are extremely benevolent and open minded, but like some eastern monks like the Sheolin and Sohei- train in arts of fighting to further protect others. But even monks know the value of the dollar to keep their monestaries running, so ones such as the Trappists sell their lovingly crafted products.
So who's to say, she didn't get back into old habits and used her gifts for good and to fund her monastery as well? ^_~
