Things are progressing pretty smoothly, with only 2 pieces left to be built. Unfortunately despite my best efforts, they don't quite mesh together as well as I wanted, with gaps and bits protruding. But still, it looks pretty good from afar.

In the top pic, the 'L' piece is being assembled, with the MDF for the 'S' piece sitting to the left. The Xs denote the back side of the pieces, and their measurements (as well as what side faces inwards) are marked on them as well. I need to be careful to assemble them in a way that all the corners can get screwed together without anything in their way. For example, the corner with the green tape needs to be screwed before assembly otherwise the drill wouldn't be able to fit.

On a related note- I was wondering earlier if it was possible to arrange all 7 pieces neatly into a 4x7 rectangle. I began to try to work it out for myself without much luck, until I realized that someone *has* to have already worked that out. And there was! Turns out it isn't possible, and this site provides a very elegant proof:
