Slaying from Afar (Or Why You Really Should Wear Armour)
"And thus did Volgar, Slayer of a Thousand, Defiler of the Serpent Priestess and Butcher of a Hundred Cities, stride forward before his army. Wielding an axe in each hand, the great white wolf roared out hsi challenge across the plain, defying all to meet him. Laughing to his army, he shouted loud and clear that once he had slain Duncan, he would rape the otter's wife and mother in front of his children before dining upon the roasted flesh of Duncan himself. Volgar however had reckoned without the mighty longbows of the Dubranns. Before he could finish his boast, Duncan, who was filled with wrathful contempt, had already nocked an arrow to his bow and shot Volgar through his chest, followed mere moments later by the shots of his twin brothers-in-law, Mícheál and Pádraic O'Leary. His dismayed army hurled themselves upon the armoured ranks of the Dubrann, and were hewn down while inflicting little hurt. In the process, Volgar's body was trampled so badly as to be unrecognisable. Thus was the battle won."

Just a little vignette I decided to do, demonstrating precisely why Duncan does NOT go in for the Conan look. Also wanted to give a little shout-out to
Kythra's rabbit twins Patrick and Michael, rendered in their Irish names just to give a little extra Fantasy immersion.

Yep. Nothing like some old-fashioned misogyny to take you back to the days when half the population were blamed for bringing about the fall from grace/rise of Satan/whatever else they could pin on them.
That said, Gerda was probably too busy laughing. That, and I only drew three arrows.
