I had a hard time thinking of what I wanted to do with today's prompt. But I decided to share a bit more of these two because I really enjoy their relationship. By no means is it romantic or sexual, but they work well with each other and will always have each other's backs. I've toyed with the idea of putting them together as a couple, but they just don't really work well like that. Either way, enjoy them and their random shenanigans!
“How the hell did you manage to talk me into this?” Jack muttered under his breath as the pair walked through town, “This is entirely humiliating.”
“Get the stick out of your ass. You’re disguised as a human only while we’re in town. You can get the necklace off afterwards. Just bear with it for now,” Draye replied hotly. “And stop being so dramatic. Being human isn’t that rough. Now come on and just let me do that talking.”
Jack rolled his eyes as Draye grabbed his hands and tugged him into the inn. Jack stood at his normal height of nearly six feet but was currently walking on two legs instead of four. His coat of silver fur had diminished to rest only atop his head as fine, silver hair instead. He occasionally flexed and folded his fingers into loose fists, internally shuddering at his lack of claws. Around his neck was a pendant with an emerald in the center of it. A practiced eye would know it was magical, but to a commoner it was simply a nice piece of jewelry.
As the pair reached the counter, the innkeep looked to them and smirked, “You two lookin’ for a room I take it?”
“Yes, sir. Just for one night.” Draye answered as he let go of Jack’s hand to grab his coin purse.
“One bed or two?” He asked, eyeing the pair up. Jack crosses his arms and avoided eye contact with the man.
“Just one.” Draye answered, used to only getting a bed for himself on his travels. Jack’s shot a dark look at Draye who didn’t notice as he pulled out a few coins and offered them to the innkeep, “Is this enough?”
“Oh, I’m sure it will be.” The innkeep pocketed the coin and handed a confused Draye a key, “Third floor at the end of the hall. And just a heads up, the folks around here don’t judge too much. Just don’t make too much noise. Understand?”
“Uh… yes.” Draye answered uncertainly. Glancing over to Jack he finally saw the glare the wolf was giving him and shrunk back a bit. Draye grabbed the key and hurried up the stairs with Jack following not far behind.
As the pair reached the third floor Draye would look back at his companion, “What’s wrong? You look pissed.” He said quietly, “Did I say something wrong?”
“Draye, I don’t spend much time with people, but even I know what just went wrong there,” He snorted and swiped the key from Draye on his way by. “You came in holding my hand and got us a single bedded room. Then he asked us to be quiet and you said “okay” to it. Think for two seconds and tell me what he could have meant.”
“O-Oh. Sorry. I didn’t even think about that. I just normally get one bed. It’s what I’m used to. And it was easier to keep a grip on your hand. And I didn’t want him to think we were going to be rowdy.” Draye muttered out. “I didn’t think it would imply anything. Why are you so mad about it though?”
“Because we’re not gay, Draye. And I’d rather not have to put out that image the entire time we’re hunting this stupid wraith.” He stated bluntly, “Well, I’m not into guys. No judgement though.”
Draye’s face flushed bright red, “W-Wait, I’m not—”
“Draye, I know you far too well. Don’t try to lie to me about this, okay? We have other things to deal with.” Jack fumbled the key in his hands trying to put it properly in the lock, “How the hell does this thing work?”
Draye walked up and rolled his eyes, “It’s backwards. Don’t take the key if you don’t know how to use it.” He swiped the key back and unlocked the door with no issue, then pat Jack’s shoulder and strolled in.
“I would have gotten it…” Jack muttered, shutting the door behind him and quickly removed the pendant, tossing it on the bed. A moment later he reverted back to his normal wolf self and wormed his way out of the clothes he borrowed from Draye, “Dibs on the bed.”
“What? What do you mean?” Draye asked having already sat on the foot of the bed.
“I’m claiming the bed tonight. It’s mine.” He repeated, kicking the shirt and pants over to Draye.
“It’s a double. We can both sleep in the bed,” Draye explained defensively.
“Yes, but the only reason we have only one bed is because of you. So I’m claiming it.”
“Yes, but if anybody comes by to clean they’re going to wonder why one of us is on the dirty floor and the other has a full bed to themselves.”
“I think they’ll also wonder why there’s a wolf in bed with you.”
“Because at this point we’re a couple.” Draye replied with a smirk, “Y’know, a normal human couple.”
“Draye, don’t you start,” Jack growled. “We’re not a couple and I’m not human.”
“Well, according to you and the innkeep downstairs we certainly are,” He chuckled at the growl. “So let’s just share a bed, kill the wraith, then we’re good to “break up” and never worry about it again. What do you say?”
“The relationship is stupid. But if sharing the bed is what you want, then fine,” Jack grinned wickedly to show off his teeth, “We’ll share the bed.”
Draye gulped nervously and slid further back on the bed, “Why do you have that look on your face?” Jack took a step towards him. “Jack? Jack! Wait!”
From down in the dining area of the inn, the innkeep heard a sudden scream from upstairs. A few of the patrons that had walked in recently looked up and then too the innkeep who simply shrugged, “Couple from out of town,” He explained. “Asked ‘em to be quiet. Hope that’s not what they consider quiet.”
“Sounds like it might be a bit more than a little fun there, Cedric. Maybe go check on ‘em?” One of the regulars suggested followed by another scream and a heavy thud.
Cedric sighed and pointed to the man, “Watch the bar until I get back.” He groaned and trudged up the stairs. As he made his way up the screams had finally ceased as had the banging. He thought about just turning back given how quiet it was, but he had seen enough bad to know he still had to check.
Lumbering down the hallway he finally reached the door and raised his fist to knock on it when he heard a voice from the other side, “Jack, it’s so wet and tight in there! How do you always enjoy this? How the hell can you even fit me?!” Cedric froze for a moment and lowered his fist, shaking his head. He turned and started back and started back downstairs.
Inside the room, Draye still had one arm and his head in the open air, but a few simple tosses and gulps from Jack sent the rest of Draye slipping down into the wolf’s gut. Draye wriggled and squirmed in Jack’s gut with a low groan, “You’re such an ass!” He shouted out.
Jack chuckled and hopped up onto the bed and let out a victorious belch, “I might be, but you’re the one that wanted to share the bed. I call this a nice compromise.” He flopped onto his gut, squishing Draye underneath him.
Draye pushed out and kicked at the stomach walls around him, “I swear once I’m out of here—”
“Once you’re back out we’re going to hunt a wraith. And then I’m going to go back out to nature, and you can have a bed all to yourself. Sound good?” Jack offered, pressing his paws in on Draye.
“Fine…” Draye huffed, resting back against the stomach walls. “But people still think we’re together and you’re wearing the necklace when we leave.”
“I accept your terms, honey,” Jack agreed teasingly, “Whatever you say, dear.”
At the bar, Cedric returned with his face beet red shaking his head slowly, “They’re quiet enough now,” He said to the patron who took over for him. “Better to just let them go for now.”
“How the hell did you manage to talk me into this?” Jack muttered under his breath as the pair walked through town, “This is entirely humiliating.”
