“You know, I can walk myself.” Shifting her weight on his broad shoulders, Whisper glanced down as a familiar face carried her down the beach. She wasn’t sure what surprised her more: the fact that someone was carrying her piggyback, or that he was able to pick her up in the first place!
“Yes, I know, but I like carrying you; you’re fun-sized and light.” Proudly wagging his tail, Grimm ignored her complaining as he walked along the shoreline, letting the water splash against his feet. Above his head was a less than happy wolfcat he was carrying as if she were a prize.
“Now see, aren’t you glad I got you? We can spend the day together relaxing on the beach instead of just sleeping the day away!”
…“Yay.”
A less than enthusiastic wolfcat replied, though she seemed to perk up as they neared the ocean.
Kotohiki beach- one of his favorite spots to come this time of year. And surprisingly there were not many tourists or visitors here at the moment, making it the perfect getaway for a quiet weekend of rest and fun with his favorite lyolf.
Grimm had surprised Whisper at the train station earlier and picked her up to spend the day with him. He had overheard her other friend’s plans to spend time with her, and decided to make his own plans with her instead! Rather than have her friend pick Whisper up and bring her into town, he took it upon himself to spend some time with her instead. Due to how busy they both were lately, he cherished what little time he could spend with his friend…even if meant kidnapping her from other friends to get some alone time with her. Her friend would understand…maybe. He would bring her back to him later that day after they left the beach.
His daydreaming was cut short as he felt a swift kick against his side- an impatient wolfcat huffed as she ushered him to put her back down.
“Haha, gomen. Hang on, I know what will make you happy.” As he made his way to the boardwalk, he looked around until he found what he was looking for: the ice cream stand! Paying the man, Grimm quickly placed the ice cream cone in her hand and shuffled back to the beach with her. “There, you have your ice cream, the beach, and most importantly, me for the whole day. Are you happy now?”
His question was ignored as she happily nibbled on the ice cream, purposely letting some drip on his head. With a sigh, he sat her down on the sand, sitting next to her and making himself comfortable. Even if she would not say it, he knew she was happy and didn’t mind his company that much.
Aww, they’re so cute together when Whisper isn’t trying to kill or maim him…bless the poor guy for his patience putting up with her, lol.
And yes, Whisper really does hate being picked up and carried! She is under the impression she’s too big or fat to be carried by anyone. She’s not exactly a kid anymore, lol. But apparently she’s light enough for -most- of her friends to carry.
It’s been a while since Whisper and Grimm spent some time together, so Grimm decided to kidnap her for the day and take her on a beach date! He knows how much she loves the beach, so it seemed like the perfect way to spend some time with her and relax as well. However, the fact that he had to kidnap her to get her to go out with him says something as well...lol. Anyway-
I want to give a huge thanks to the talented artist behind this piece: Lilly. I have worked with them several times, and they ALWAYS do a wonderful job on Whisper and Grimm. I hate to say it but yes, they are cute together~

This is so pure and gorgeous and genuinely makes me extremely happy..... The art is extraordinarily superb and so wonderfully carefree and happy, not to mention impressively beautiful. The story really gave me the most happiness... You have such a way with conveying feeling and meaning with your words and it's always a joy to read what you write with you commissions....
