Yeah, the Switch is just small enough to be genuinely portable (looking at you, Gamecube with your carrying handle). There was no reason to keep the 3DS around after that. The 3D stuff, while neat, never added much.
Still, eight years (between the 3DS and the "new" 3DS) is a respectable run for any console.

The first time I got a New Nintendo 3DS XL, it was ruby red in color (bought at a Target store in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio) (the one I currently have is deep dark purple with a space theme [got it for Christmas in 2019]); I watched a YouTube video of the story of how a Victini went to the Dark Side of the Pokémon world (this was when Miiverse was still around btw). I had a lengthy nightmare called "Victini's Wrath"; every night while I slept, the little Victory Pokémon would burn down a specific city in the Kanto region. The cities would be burned down in this order:
Pewter City
Cerulean City
Vermilion City
Celedon City
Fuchsia City
Lavender Town
Saffron City
Cinnabar Island (forcing me to swim to safety after making the volcano erupt)
Viridian City
Pallet Town
After Victini set Pallet Town ablaze, he would threaten to burn me to a crisp; however, one Miiverse user posted a solution: using a Water-type Pokémon to make it faint. I did just that and added a little something extra: having an Alakazam pin Victini to a tree. After I used a Blastoise to use its strongest Water-type move for five minutes non-stop, Victini was defeated; I thanked the person who posted that solution, after which I went back to peacefully sleeping while having sweet dreams.
