So I haven't talked much about the Balār as a thing on this account, been holding off BUT I really want to upload this and I can answer questions if they are asked.
So some lore on Veidrasil
Veidrasil is one of the 3 balār who exists in the large reaches of the Far Yukon, specifically Veidrasil can be found in the Southestern region known as the "Yellowknife Wildlands", hundreds and hundreds of miles of borreal forests reaching from the yellowknife lakes only broken by the tundras of nunavut
Veidrasil is a smaller bal, only being a couple hundred feet long as a giant winding serpent, it's neck and head formed from a slatelike manastone, and eye of spellglass and a neck of pine. Veidrasil roughly translates to the "Pine hunter" and is an apt description for Veidrasil. Most every bal has a hobby of some type or another, Inul loves running, Rodurimer makes sandstorms, Driyodrum enjoys seeing the sun from below the waves, Frumskodrott likes tending to "it's" amazonian gardens. Veidrasil however is a lot more sinister, it enjoys seeing the breaking points of living creatures, how long does it take a living thing to lose their mind? What sort of stresses can it put upon the body before it dies? Very entertaining stuff to Veidrasil.
Veidrasil will often pick out lone wanderers, or even groups of most any living creature, be they an animal, drekir, ormer, mavotur and on one occasion a prejag and start trying to break them. The image above is the very sudden moments before this breaking begins (Veidrasil is starting to resonate and break reality). During this unfortuneate death, victims are stretched and warped in manners that defy logic and physics. Their minds are forced to experience sensations and memories that they don't have, ideas and information that causes sensory overloads and they are forced rapidly through emotions. They body tends to change from meat to other materials, get warped and stretched and dissected in surreal and unreal ways, and eventually rendered unusable
Usually all that is found afterwards is a pile of a strange, quivering slag. Not really a body nor meat, sometimes if Veidrasil gains a respect for how long a specific victim held out it will instill the body into the trees, an inscription reading of how long they lasted before cracking or dying
So uh, one of the darker balār in the lore for sure
Local tribal reactions to the bal
The Scraelinger believe Veidrasil to be one of their 3 gods, calling Veidrasil the "Gaunpine" (The Withered Tree), they associate Veidrasil as the god of death and rebirth, a grim reaper that sews the souls that it rips from the mortal coil into the afterlife. They believe the spirits of heroes and strong souls are cycled into eggs to be rehatched anew
They also believe that Veidrasil was once a tree that Galak (The star slayer) cursed to roam the earth, bringing the end to the new wakers that dared think the world was theirs to rule
Some fun trivia!
Veidrasil is one of the 3 balār that dueled Godomer in the first days following the pulse in both canons. though ill focus on the reset as the "Day the sun sang" is a lot more cataclysmic in the pulse reset Veidrasil was furious over GoDomer's desire to break the steiron further, thus damning more of the Raddir to the fate of the Balār and would join Rodurimer and Rilim in cutting off GoDomer in Central America. The battle there was so great as to shatter the tectonic plates, turning Central America into a heavily volcanic archipelago known as the Central Isles. And as the battle was flung into Quebec Veidrasil bound GoDomer while Rilim Rotted the fabric of reality around the powerful bal, burying GoDomer in the slag of dead reality. Afterwards, not sure as to what to do veidrasil would wander to the Far Yukon and begin it's reapings that would continue for thousands of years before the peoples of the Americas would ever awaken as drekir.
So a rare example of a truly malevolent bal and some darker lore about the DragonScape! uh but have fun
