Every section of Hype Labs has a Director. Every Director has five technicians or researchers who oversee operations day to day that are called Prefects. Girani happens to be one of the ones for the Medical sector ad she's particularly zealous about doing her job.

She started as a nurse and went from there to become one of the more meticulous(obsessive) researchers in the section. Her usual area of expertise is in chemical engineering and application of medication to subjects. Her optimism, bedside manner, and patience go toward making her very easy to work with, so she has gone far in a section full of stressed technicians and subjects that often have to deal with wild mutations and physical metamorphosis.
