Honestly tho, I kinda just started with a sketch of this lad and ended up just kept going with it. And, yes, google literally translated this title from sea slug in latin; it looked cool to me.
Actually, hold up, how long since I made a sketch (not from the post, an old sketch) of just plotting on how to draw a nudibranch anthro? Let's see from my sketchbooks... ah yes, April 13, 2020. Welp, moral of the story: Ideas will last for a really long time if they're drawn or written on anything.
