In our Character Design class, we're starting the process for creating a character in one of three styles. We were given the art style of 'How to Train Your Dragon', 'Team Fortress 2', or 'God of War'. Since I prefer a looser interpretation of reality, I chose TF2's style, and set about doing some practice drawings from Leyendecker, Rockwell, Cromwell, and in game screenshots. Here's a sample of the best work I managed to get into my sketchbook over the last week.
