I suppose the bull might be one of those gentle giant types whom might not necessarily be the smartest and I imagine meant no harm, though maybe he'd be a bit disappointed that Maru wasn't having fun like their kobold friend.
I imagine part of the trouble as well for eutherians is that saurians probably don't show the same signs of aging they would so it could be more difficult to tell their real age and so Maru might get mistaken for being a lot younger especially as they are a lot shorter. Of course with differing lifespans for some long lived species a person of eighty would still be a kid comparatively.
