I suppose it's possible that the implication that Danger Hyena would be the actual dinner might be to intimidate him and break what is seen as a cocky and defiant attitude but with villainous raptors and the hyena finding himself in perilous situations I imagine that it could well be a real danger. Judging by the rather feral expressions they probably wouldn't have qualms about eating other sentient creatures or perhaps deciding to kill him if his laughter and quips irritate them too much. Hopefully he'll get himself out of this situation to laugh in the face of danger another day.
