I personally never felt that the movie gave the emotional pull that it should have had, even as an adult
Instead of yelling at the sky that his father's wasn't there to help him as an adult, he screams and begs his father to forgive him for a murder that he was unaware wasn't his fault and is only met with the silence of the stars.
Felt like there was a really missed opportunity here cause he didn't just watch someone die, which I'm sure is traumatic on its own. That was his father, who he loved and was considered inseparable from. He watched it as a child and his uncle convinced him that Mufasa would still be alive if it were not for him. You would think some more tears would have been shed since, you know, it established just how badly it affected him, but that's just me.
