THE RAPTOR SUBSPECIES
There are actually several subspecies to the Wyvidae family, the most commonly bred and known one being your average Wyvians, which you have seen a lot in the past. What you might not recall is seeing the Raptor subspecies a few times before!
Truth to be told, Wyvians, Wyverns, Raptors and the many variations of the Wyvidae family can often inbred, leading to interesting physiological variations as rich as their fellow bird family members.
Because of this inbred culture, sometimes the line between a Raptor and a Wyvian is very blurry, but you can typically tell them apart by their ability to leave the ground or not. More often than not, it is said a Wyvian that cannot take off is a technically a Raptor (their wings would be far too small fly)
Although Wyverns, Wyvians and Raptors are different breeds, they are all generally labeled Wyvians due to their predominant features regardless of breed: bird traits/colors and 4 limbs (sometimes more than one pair of wings). Then again, the world of Wyvians is a rich one, and there are just too many breeders out there with too much free time...
