This was an amazing experience. I saw so many meteors and several massive ones shooting across the sky. The first night sucked ass, though. After getting bitten by what seemed like the entire US mosquito population, I got back to find out the stars were out of focus. The second night was the total opposite. There were hardly any bugs (I don't think I got bit once), I saw some American green tree frogs and an Opossum (didn't have the equipment to properly photograph them at the time), I was alone, and I actually got everything in focus. It was such an amazing experience and I can't wait for the next time I go. :3

I wish my compositing skills were so good. This was done by taking 2 shots (a 1 minute tracked exposure focused on the Milky Way and a 20 second untracked exposure focused on the lighthouse). I blended them together so they would both be sharp (otherwise the tracked image would have blurred the foreground). I also thought about color grading the lighthouse to be more white, but I think the red hue helps keep the glow from the tower in the back from becoming too overwhelming. :3
Thanks, man. I appreciate it. I'm just glad the lighthouse itself didn't cause any issues with the Milky Way. I was concerned it would wash out the image, but as long as you didn't expose it for too long, it was fine. I'm still new to this whole field of photography and hope to continue to improve. :3
I live in a little fishing town in Nova Scotia, where the lighthouses are as sacred as the churches.
Many's a fisherman would have been lost to the Mighty North Atlantic if not for these coastal beacons, showing the way safely home in heavy weather.
Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful image of such a fine subject! *fav*

And a thanks to you for the kind words and wonderful writing. Maybe some day I can go to Nova Scotia and see the beautiful landscapes and architecture you have to offer.
Also, apologies for the late reply. Things have been a little hectic lately and I must have missed this. <3
