This is the first in another series of photo-ops - this time comprised of group shots taken at various locations throughout the Eastern Seaboard.
In this particular case, all of the subjects are current "Fur Affinity" members, and said photo was taken at an ideal location for these 'furry folks'... The Philadelphia Zoo!
It was late July, 2001 in Philadelphia, PA - one day after "AnthroCon" came to an end - when I'd organized a small gathering at the zoo for that Monday, mere hours before I had to head to the airport (for my return flight back to south Florida).
The main purpose of this field trip to the zoo was to treat MistyPine01 to this outing, as it was his birthday. The fact that an eclectic group of "AC" attendees joining us were the 'icing' on his birthday cake, made all the difference in the world!
We got to see lots of animals - including elephants, hippos, rhinos, aardvarks, bears, giraffes, and even 'feeding time' in the porcupine's cage. There was also a compound that allowed the public to walk amongst a mob of kangaroos (which, sadly, we didn't have the time to do).
Halfway during this get-together, I'd organized this 'group shot' in front of the lion's enclosure. (You can see said lion in the upper-left corner of the photo.) I was quite fortunate that the total stranger who took the picture was very steady with my 35MM camera.
Here's the rundown of who's who in said 'group shot'...

A special "imuchas gracias!" to RosenOtter for letting me (and Karno) stay overnight in his place - prior to the zoo trip - and for the drive to the airport.
I still found it hard to believe what a good time I had with all these friends on that late July, 2001 day... little suspecting the turn of events that would affect us, our fellow Americans, and the rest of the world... nearly six weeks later.
