Liberty kicking the butt of ...uh... Hitler!? - By Dzemon
DZemon obviously just *had* to do 1 picture of Liberty. It would have been Heresy most unbecoming otherwise. But wait! (I can already feel the nerds asking) why is she kicking Hitler's butt instead of Bismark's?!?! Eh! All will be revealed... in the comic. 😂👍💖

You ever actually see that cover? The Hitler likeness is atrocious! To say nothing of the weird background composition!
My friend says that was the Golden Age of Comics because you could crap out nearly anything and find enough readership to make it profitable.
Ah, for love of...! Another misplaced comment that started a new thread. But you know where this goes in the order

no, no, i know what you mean, i just thought it looked nothing like this one, but also... yeah it's the same vibe.

but to be fair it's about the same as the stuff from that period:

Hitler is just easy to parody.

You're right... it's the theme, not an actual look.
The 'our hero just saunters into an Axis leader's stronghold and punches him... which somehow solves something!' trope.
Golden Age Wonder Woman had some doozies of outright offensive portrayals! Yes... enough to have *wronged* Hitler and the like!

Hitler in his time was considered a childish buffoon for a good reason.
He conquered half of europe not because of strategy or might...
...if anything his tactic was akin to "swarm!"
The main problem was... nobody expected such a buffoon to do what he did, because what he did was below childish and the kind of hatred only adult man-children display.
People with the emotional development of an amoeba. And the ability to think straight of a raging cretin.
He was "the gamer" before video gamers were a thing. Always checking his FPS (the rate at which he received information), ultra-micro-managing, checking the resolution of the textures (yes, he did dioramas of the battles and moved the wonderfully sculpted and painted pieces around in unison with the information he got)... and surrounded himself with like-minded people.
People who thought of human life as a plaything. That reveled on the number and style of the kills. That decided out of boredom that shifting blame of everything to ....somebody quiet... a minority who was not hostile... yeah, that would convince everybody that all the problems came from ... "that".
Hitler himself did not truly believe that "being jewish" was what was destroying germany. In fact he signed a ton of waivers that told his own guards "these are outstanding german citizens" to people he knew or found important, but also were jewish. He reviled in the worship for being "humane" when giving "an out" to people he personally put in that situation.
There is a reason why Hitler is considered the worst of the worst to a nearly comedic level.
But the idea i get is that a lot of time he is a "silhouetted ancient god" that is being worshipped because nobody is pointing out in detail WHY he was "the worst of the worst".

And... to be frank. It is willful ignorance that is forcing people to think that old and widely proven facts are “widely debated and currently controversial” topic, allowing them to call in cause the terms of House Bill 3979 like it was done in this Texas mandate.

Not only people of today are forgetting history and thinking that "facts" are "propaganda", no, people today are actively trying to justify their ideas, even when they have no justification whatsoever.
Because reading history makes you question yourself and why you are repeating the same mistakes... and some people are petty enough they think history is better when you sanitize it.
It's like seeing that scene in "Thank You For Smoking" where the anti-smoke people want to change old movies digitally so that all cigarettes are removed.

Oh, worst of the worst. I don't seek to revise or debate the facts of the war. I'm decently read, and not from cherry-picked info sources; as I've mentioned before, history is a hobby of mine. I just should have chosen another means of phrasing my point. Darned if I know what it could have been that would be accurate, though.
It has a lot to do with just how wartime comics were, and how low the standards of the budding industry were back then. That's as far as I can go and stay sure I'm fully understood.

I'm aware of things like Hitler's secretly BBC-recorded train car conversation with a staff member where he candidly talked about Russia in totally dissimilar terms as his public line, and stated frustration with Himmler's 'proof of the master race' archaeological expeditions. I also know of his love of Jewish comedic actors, and of his making a Jewish inventor of a one-handed mechanical calculator an honorary Aryan. He refused to fully accept that the certain things that where so key to his own experiences in World War I were no longer the same or even relevant. And his quack doctor (whose conflicting medications gave Hitler stomach trouble) also got him hooked on an amphetamine-based 'vitamin' solution without his knowledge. The latter helps explain his terrible teeth, and how he got so much more crazy towards the end.
