In hindsight, it was bound to happen. With the decades-long enforcement of sumptuary laws forbidding the harvesting of bear pelts combined with the exigencies of the Civil War, Skyrim's bears multiplied unchecked. They soon learned to gorge on the unburied dead, followed by travelers on the road and even straggling soldiers. Having seen rampaging bears slaughter their people and ruin their economy, even the Jarls sympathetic to Windhelm agreed to give the East Empire Company's trappers all the freedom they wanted to cull the ursine horde.
An army of woodsmen descended on Skyrim. Colovian trappers, Alik'r nomads, coureurs des bois from High Rock, Bosmeri pathfinders, and all manner of rogues with exotic weapons insinuated themselves into Skyrim's wild hinterlands, but none were as adroit as the mysterious Lykaios. Not since Saint Jiub's crusade against Morrowind's Cliff Racers had there been such battle between mortals and the primal demesne of Kyne.

This screenshot is a variation of the usual outfit showing a bearskin poncho that doesn't clip very much. Leoncillo's more likely to wear this when it gets really cold than in Riverwood, though.
