Montague may tease and gloat, but he holds no real ill will toward you. It's just that so many people see him as a monster and it's rather amusing to play the role. Besides, he makes such a wonderful big, bad owl. But he'll usually thank you, even if just to rub your fate in. He'll tell you how you'll make a pleasant part of him. It isn't a lie. You may stop being you, but you won't stop being altogether. There will always be a piece of you inside him. A very literal piece.
It might not bring you much comfort, but the nice thing to the owl is that your predicament won't trouble you for long. Once his gut goes to work, all those silly complaints and protests will churn into a pleasant silence. He'll be full and you...well, you'll be him. A tranquil, squishy piece of him that seems completely fine with its new existence. You won't say otherwise. And you won't be wasted either. You'll have hundreds of rubs, pats and sways.
