Background: The heir to a good share of a popular business between China and Japan, having everything he ever wanted or needed dropped right into his lap by his well-off parents. He took up archery lessons from a mentor that was connected to Zanfeng, which is how the Kitsune knew about and met the Qilin, extending the offer for Ya-ting to become his current scribe/historian. After hesitant thought, he accepted but has come to not regret his decision in the slightest, having something better to do than what he thought his life would end having him do.
