Another ACEO drawn as a thank you for proofing my paper. This one is for  galenpepys! He wanted his arctic wolf character looking uncertain or confused.

Naturally I forgot to write down exactly what he wanted and struggled for a while remembering how to draw wolves, first of all, and trying to figure out a hopeful expression secondly.
Thankfully I had the presence of mind to go back to the source and once I that the whole expression was wrong, a sketch that I liked just happened.

I painted it up in watercolor, fighting with my crappy old brushes the whole way but having fun with layering colors. I hope it comes across that this particular wolf is white! My initial approach was to just leave the white parts blank and then shade when I realized it’s time to level up my color skillz and that I should try using a different base color and trying to convince the viewer it’s really white. I didn’t exactly achieve that, I think the fur is still just a little too blue in the un-shaded areas, but it was a good experiment and great practice.
