"This picture made me seriously rethink trying to digitize hand drawn artwork. Previous pieces posted here were shot with my phone and the colors and brightness reflect that. Smaller pieces were scanned with one of my two all in one printers, both of which produce sharper pictures, but the color range is lacking. The scanned pictures produced a slight dithering effect.
Originally I had planned to have all or just the larger pictures scanned at a local FedEx Office which I what I decided with this one. The results were somewhat better and somewhat worse. Better in color range. When I got the pictures back on a thumb drive they looked awful until I worked the in Photoshop. There were more colors in the picture than was visible, I could make more adjustments to fix it to look more like the original drawing. The bad news was that it still wasn't enough to fix it completely. To top it off it cost over $4 to scan, $8 because I forgot to sign the first one. Not too expensive, but for the results not worth it.
Also this picture was to be an entry for an online art contest, a contest which I think I don't have a chance at winning with the resulting scan and may make me reconsider doing another attempt. I'm not sure of a proper solution. I do plan on buying a stand alone scanner like I used to own in the past, some thing nice and not cheap. But for my larger piece I might have to find I better way."
