The unit of soldiers looked on in horror, both human and Chimera. Was this their Soluk? Was this their Magustina? Who or what was this thing?
Power flooded off of her making the other magus step back or fall to their knees, gasping. They didn't try to stop her--it transforming. None of them could.
Seidhr swirls danced above her now blood red skull, the markings once bright read and inset into soft off white fur now searing black marks. Soluk's limbs lengthened, her body becoming skeletal as they all very clearly heard her bones break only to knit and break again as she collapsed into the snow. The cry from behind sharp and deadly teeth--teeth that once seemed large by normal standards and now were without a doubt weapons--was pain wrapped in rage.
Soluk's ears lengthened, sweeping backwards from her face and became encased in leathery black and brown skin. The rest of her coat had started to slough off, revealing that her whole body now matched her ears with the exception of her tufts and mane; those were now a blinding white almost painful to look at. Roaring again, the soldiers could see Soluk's fingers snap, fuse, and reform into three over sized and now skeletal like claws, the same crimson as her skull. They were beveled on the edge and tip, leaving no doubt to level of injury they could inflict.
The runes below her neck were in the same pattern as her normal body and now flickered in a blood red warning signal, seidhr letters swirling above them in a mutation that none of them had seen or could translate. All of Chimera's armor shredded or shattered from the change in her size, now a full meter and a half taller than what she was. Only the frayed remains of her red and black battle tunic clung to her waist, all radio equipment and supplies
now missing in the fifteen centimeters of snow.
Stumbling, Soluk managed to right herself and Kernhoff could see the ports from her armor on her left arm were now just nine spheres of raw, crackling fermoid and graviton energy no longer held in check by elaborate armor or the magustina's restraint. "This is bad," the lieutenant whispered, looking around to get a count. They had been encircled, certain death staring all of them in the face but now the Integrated Alliance troops were either fleeing or frozen in horror. "This is really bad. But maybe we have a chance with her new...abilities."
The small squadron of IA troops tried to run, shouting in Russian to move out of her way but it was far too late and they were far too close. Soluk turned and took a few lengthy strides to grab the IA Commander by the head. His arms and legs flailed, trying to get free only to drop limp when Soluk crushed his head with ease producing a sickening wet and snapping sound.
She tossed the mangled human to the ground, splashing the snow with gore. A few more IA commandoes were crushed, a sharp bone tail swiping to knock them down only to have their chests broken open or limbs torn free. Captain Stetza turned and fired a pistol, the bullets bouncing harmlessly off of a shield that was unseen to the human eye but crackled red once struck.
Soluk swung around to grab the IA soldier by the shoulder and punched her hand through the human's chest wall, the pistol falling into the snow. Stetza looked down with surprise, blood starting to bubble around her lips. The skulled Chimera leaned in close to her face, seemingly curious, searching for something. "What are you?" Stetza managed to choke out.
The jaws snapped open, revealing a serpentine black tongue. "Dragur," Soluk answered, voice no longer a quiet bass but a sticky, distorted growl. Soluk then pulled her arm free, watching with a mix of satisfaction and curiosity as the snow turned red under Stetza's corpse.
Kernhoff snapped out of his trance, knowing that whatever stood in front of their leader was going to be a casualty. He wasn't going to wait to see if she could still tell they were friend and not foe.
Quickly he grabbed the radio, yelling into it, "All units, pull back from this location! Repeat: Pull back from Helvetehund 2nd platoon's location and regroup eight kilometers South!" Kernhoff wondered if it was enough, if they could make it.
'I don't know what they did to you, Sol,' he lamented, swinging into his tank and slamming the hatch shut just as another roar, caused him and the rest of his tank crew to cover their ears. 'But if we make it, I'm going to find out.'
