Varathein is a friendly vulgon who used to hang around with the ancient Greeks, feasting and partying while keeping an eye out for natural disasters. He hates violence though, and as invading nations started to attack, he fled to the hills.

After over a thousand years of absence, Varanthein once again showed up, this time in the prairies of Alberta, where he met Faren. As both were genderless (although they do have preferred pronouns) and magical beings, they get along fairly well. However, Faren's uncontrolled flame powers and unstable moods make their friendship fairly tense, so they rarely get together.
