The phrase 'gentle giant' could very well have been coined to aptly describe Ian Keller. Possessed of an innate talent for healing the sick and a knowledge of medicinal herbs gained from his governess, one would never guess that his father is a cruel, murderous conqueror and tyrant. Fortunately for Ian, he was the youngest of his family, considered something of a runt and not worthy of his father's or his father's agents time to train for combat. While he might have been sheltered from his father's methods, he still saw what his father did to the people and vowed to put an end to it though he didn't know how. All he was able to do for some time was heal who he could and ease the suffering of those he couldn't, until one day an unusual visitor told him of a place where he could learn how to oppose his father. Though skeptical, Ian agreed and found himself at the adventurers' school and Ian distinguished himself in his classes on the healing arts eventually finding himself on the same team as Reynard, Brantan and Kym. In school, Ian is tight-lipped about his past and father being terribly ashamed of both. He eventually opens up to Kym though and she and Ian's other friends agree to help him when Ian feels ready to.
