I didn't know what I did to provoke a fight from the red dragon. Perhaps he was simply acting on instinct? Whereas I had learned to harness all of my emotions, my very being, and my connections to the world into raw psychic and transformative power, he was driven only by a pure rage that seemed to encompass his very being, enlarging and strengthening him much as I could do and had done to myself. I instinctively shifted to shield my companion from the other dragon's mighty leap despite knowing he was more than capable of defending himself.
Even on the receiving end of such aggression, I couldn't help but revel in the fight. I was becoming more convinced that my "foe" was acting on instinct, and when the fight was to finish, I was sure I wanted to learn of his power. To harness anger so is surely a talent any true dragon should have, and in him I saw an opportunity to learn and better myself even as he swung at me with all of his amazing might.
