Famicom, which is short for family computer, is an 8-bit home computer and video game console released by Nintendo in Japan on July 15th, 1983. It came with two controllers, as well as home versions of three Nintendo arcade games: Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and Popeye. A few years after its release, the Famicom was modified to focus exclusively on video games and re-released worldwide as the Nintendo Entertainment System.
My back story on the Famicom is that I was born in Manhattan and as a New Yorker we mostly get many Japanese imports and sold at NYC downtown China Town electronic stores and if any gaming systems released in Japan we also get them on the same day and after I got the NES in 85 NYC test market in 87 as I walked around at many street/flea markets at Canal Street and got my self a box Famicom and a shoe box full of Famicom games carts for 20 bucks and since then I been collecting anything Japanese imports of games and consoles. So far I have over 200+ Famicom games and growing.
Only three three Famicom games ever released for the unit and they are,
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Popeye
