Now I made my 1st print of a model I created. I downloaded the latest Blender and used the sculpting tools to come up with this beastly thing. I remember trying Blender like a decade ago and it is much better and more complete than what I recall from back then.
Anyhoot, I exported the model and loaded it in Cura to slice it and made the G-code file. I didn't want to waste any of the white filament so I used that ugly magenta one I had lying around. I plan on sanding and painting them eventually anyway if they come out well enough.
These claws took under an hour and forty minutes to print compared to the over five hours of the test doggie I did earlier. Yeah, not the speediest machines. I already got it dialed in enough to letting it print on its own after making sure the first few layers print without issues.
And they did, Well, at least I think so. Not bad for a first timer as for the 3D printing goes. I probably can tweak it to get somewhat better results but it looks good, for now anyway. I ordered some ABS filament that is supposed to be stronger than PLA I am using. Higher heat resistance for sure though.
Eventually I'll get some of the more flexible stuff like TPU or even nylon to try out. I think those would be better for the claws, fangs and the horns I am going to make for my fursuit. They should survive better me thinks. But I heard they are harder to deal with so I am going to get used to PLA first and then ABS before moving one to the more challenging stuff.
So my plans is to start with the paw and feet claws, horns, fangs, new follow-me eye cups, and stuff like that in PLA. Also the new base plate for the plasma ball I want to hold in my maw. I hope to get if not all, a good part of those done before TFF in 2020. Only a couple of months away so I best get going on it. 0..0
By the way, I might release some or all the models if there are interest in them once I am done. We'll have to see about that.

The prints I did so far are too shabby, especially for a beginner like me. But PLA is pretty easy compared to the other types of plastics.
The white and translucent PLA filament came in today from eBay, a week early. Cool beans. I plan on modeling the fangs next and then on to the horns.
