"I arrived on scene at the Mythrilmane home at 11:44 pm when I saw a small male child hurling small fireballs at an adult male on the rooftop. There were signs of forced entry and crude traps which I later came to learn were an attempt by the small male child, Kae Mythrilmane, aged eight years, to repel the intruders. One Plainstomper Adult Male, Harrison "Hairy" Henderson, and one Kraggonian Adult Male, Mar'Vok 'Marv' Doomhoof, were the belligerents. They had been hired by a then unknown employer to steal a magical artifact of indeterminate origin which had come into the possession of one of the boy's uncles who also lived in the ten bedroom home.
"Marv had already plummeted from the rooftop of the two story building and was unconscious, but still alive. After nearly slipping on marbles, a greased up staircase, and a weak magical ward, I had approached the roof and subdued "Hairy" with a frost spell. I called for backup, the two were taken to the station.
The two thieves, who've I've taken to nicknaming the 'stupid bandits' were covered in tar and feathers, scorch marks, bruises on the forehead, paint, flour, pine needles, and what I almost hope is chocolate syrup.
The two did not name their employer until I reminded them that breaking and entering, attempted murder of a sentient being, and property damage would get them sent to Kreslocke. Which did not phase them, since they were unaware of Kreslocke Prison. I told them the story of another person convicted of attempted murder of a sentient child, and how that convict had to be buried in seven separate pickle jars.
"Virin Steelhoof" was their immediate response. Virin Steelhoof is a three hundred year old wealthy businessman with a few DUIs, assaults, counts of public indecency, and speeding tickets. Typical rich spoiled brat things.
As for Kael Mythrilmane, I will be securing the house in the event that this Virin Steelhoof, or whoever is really pulling the strings, sends more goons after him and this artifact whatever it was. I am confident that if he gets word that I am there, he will be reluctant to send anyone else after the artifact or Kael. I'll stay with the kid until the extended family returns."
True to his word, Argent Starseeker stayed with Kael and watched Frostrest specials until he fell asleep on the couch. The boy's family arrived the next morning, and Argent explained everything.
The "Stupid Bandits" were sentenced to twenty years in prison. Fortunately for them, it wasn't Kreslocke. It was also easier to escape.
Sweet, I drew something wholesome for once!
Had a bit of a lightbulb moment when I made this. I think next year I'm gonna try that whole rope-light thing with my Christmas tree.
Merry Christmas from Quakehoof to all of you out there.
