After watching the cartoon ”Avatar – The Legend of Aang” (aka “The Last Airbender”) I have discovered a new shading-style for myself, which I could use to do quick and intelligent shading like in many ANIMES.
I’m so happy with this new style that I wanted to draw a FAN ARTWORK of “The Legend of Aang”. This is my homage to this fantastic cartoon, which gave me so much inspiration and help. ^^
Also, this picture shows you four different ways of composing a picture. At least, these are my usual choices.
1. To use a reference straight from the cartoon/movie (etc.)
2. To use official artworks for reference
3. To use other fan artworks for reference
4. To draw characters yourself by using human reference models
This is what I did here:
1. Azula (the huge woman in the background) has been adapted right away from the cartoon
2. Aang (bald kid in the foreground) has been adapted from an official reference artwork
3. Toph (blind girl in green clothing) has been adapted from a fan artwork by the great “RobertK” – a former member of DeviantArt
4. Prince Zuko, Sokka and Katara (the three people in the middle) are completely drawn by myself – by using human models for posing reference.
I have also used people posing for the martial arts of Karate and Tai Chi.

You know the entire avatar movie is even bigger then Titanic was. That should tell you how much people appreciate the series.
I never watched the cartoon version but I find it truly amazing how huge of a hit it truly is.
I kinda feel obligated to catch it myself but my buddy already has seen it twice
Oh well.. At least we caught Sherlock Holmes together..
That movie was just as good and it got a healthy audience too!
Small guy on the bottom looks like Crelin from Dragon Ball Z when he got older.
You sure there aren't Japanese animation companies knocking at your den door?
Take care Rep
Hope all is well with you

Har har... should I really say something about this??? XD
In fact, James Cameron saved the TITLE COPYRIGHTS 10 years ago. So, this one here is called "Avatar-Legend of Aang" and this is it. Not just "Avatar", 'cause that'd be something else. :P
But the upcoming motion picture had to be renamed to "Last Airbender".
This is it.

Danke nochmals!

Dude thats really good....I like it alot.. I do see one thing though please don't take offense to this but katura or whatever her name is the water bender girle kinda looks manly in this picture...srry..but thats the only bad thing I saw everything else is amazing I hope I was not too bad of a critic...
Heyas, and thanks for the comment!!! :)
I'm not mad on you, no way. I know, that Katara kinda looks quite "manly". But I wanted her to be "my style" and not "anime-manga-girly"! Futhermore, she's an "Inuit woman"... and they don't look like the european women, either.
Sure, I still have to practise more on female faces..... ;) BUT don't worry.
And I rather prefer open critique! If you have to say something, you have to SAY it!! ^^ THANKS
