Matt could not remember who it was that called May "the naked month". Probably Leonard Cohen though.
Not because May was a month when everybody started walking around naked - though the hybrid would certainly not hesitate to embrace that movement. No, it was because this was the month when, as the mercury rose, people would start wearing as little fabric as socially necessary. Bare arms, bare legs, bare midriffs - or, as in Gracia's case, all of the above.
He knew pretty much every guy on Mount Royal - and more than a few girls - were checking her out, and he did not deny feeling smug about it for a minute. But as they walked amongst the trees, they only had eyes for each other.
