Dauntless Blade (Sabre)
"You want to know about me? The name is Sabre, as evident as that might be. This sword of mine, a family heirloom passed down through many generations since the age of kingdoms and knights. Briarheart is not a sword to be scoffed at, yet there's one who it's thorny bite has been unable to mark...Emerald Blaze, one day I shall become your superior through combat. just you wait! Until then, I'll settle for what I can get. Speaking of which, have you heard about the cow who jumped the wired fence? It was an udder disaster!"
Name: Tobias Rieper
Alias: Sabre
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bisexual
Species: White-tailed deer
Height: 5'4"
Age: 43
Voice: British
Abilities: Briarheart grants him the ability to manifest rose thorn vines as whips or extra protection across his body. It also gives him a transformation, in which half of his body becomes a brackish purple color, the thorned vines covering the entirety of that half.
Weaknesses: His desire to have a good fight against a worthy opponent can make him hard to work with at times, and if any villain he might be working with decides to try to off any heroes in the way, he will betray them and defend the heroes. Honor is very important to him, and thus can be exploited in various situations.
Personality: Honorable to a fault, thrill-seeking in the sense of battle and worthy opponents, and with a penchant for dad jokes since he is a father. Very suave and gentlemanly at other times.
Background: Tobias is the latest in a long line of warriors who have wielded the Briarheart, a sword tailor made for their bloodline. He has decided to go about this in his own way, using Briarheart as a means to challenge worthy opponents, searching for them primarily in superheroes. As a result, he has found a rival in Emerald Blaze, who he challenges to battles often.
When he is not challenging superheroes to duels though, he is the mysterious Mr. Rieper, CEO of Highrise Enterprises.
Introducing Sabre, a new supervillain to hit the streets of Coast City and is the sworn rival of Emerald Blaze! He's quite the tricky swordsman and has a few special abilities with Briarheart, even his own unique Awakening power as the latest of it's connected bloodline. He also likes to crack dad jokes galore.

It's a matter of perspective, really. Sometimes one's desires and goals require certain action, and that action ends up branding them as a criminal or villain, but they don't have any intention of stopping in that goal, being the hero of their own story. Sabre is just another one of these types, he didn't so much choose a path of villainy more than it was hoisted onto him by society for wanting to pursue a certain path in life.
Huh. The notion that he's being required to "work outside the lines" makes me wonder if Sabre will have a sympathetic side to him... though at the same time, the fact that he wants to beat Emerald Blaze (who I already love very much, even if I mostly know him only as a handsome hunky leotard-clad wolf) makes me kinda dislike him.
I find myself a bit protective of Emerald Blaze and distrustful of anyone who wants to harm him. Of course, you never said Sabre wants to kill or maim E.B. Just to "win against" him, so...

That sword of his, Briarheart, is a powerful ancient weapon. In it's entire history, none of it's wielders when using the blade were unable to cut through any form of defense. Sabre's first confrontation with Emerald Blaze astounded him, as it was the first time Briarheart was unable to draw blood or deliver a notable hit because of Emerald Blaze's healing factor and heightened attributes. Because of this, he became the wolf's rival with the hope of defeating him in single combat one day. The thrill of the fight excites him more than any other battle he's fought thus far.
I wouldn't expect that to be the case, he is still classified as a villain. Even if his dad jokes galore make for fun moments.
Briarheart can't be destroyed, at least not permanently. It will reform to the current wielder if it is even taken from him and destroyed via the very specific and relatively unknown ritual. But if anyone tries to take it by force without the wielder's consent, then the name Briarheart becomes apparently as thorn vines will sprout from and around the sword to maul the hands holding it.

Heh, yeah. So far he reminds me of Sansenite's Raptor character: the gryphon's a villainous b*st*rd, and yet his sarcastic witty remarks have made me laugh. Raptor would be a character I love hating if he hadn't done a few particular things.
Whoa! No wonder this is such a legendary sword!
Whoa! No wonder this is such a legendary sword!
In terms of personality. Raptor is utterly ruthless and as you put it, a villainous bastard. Sabre is nowhere near that level of villainy. For example, Raptor has no issue killing anyone on a whim, even people way down the social ladder, and loves to torment heroes. Sabre on the other hand would give a homeless person money, even if they tried to attack him for any reason, and refuse to retaliate even if they continue, dodging and halting any strikes thrown at him.
Right.
Right.
Why would it? Can't you just simply imagine those two in the same area, having a duel? This is a hypothetical situation meant to determine who would win in a fight. There doesn't need to be any other specific details or context because, again, it's all hypothetical. It doesn't take place in any canon of your story, which allows for characters who never meet to cross paths.
I honestly don't see how that makes it work for the best - but that's just me. I can imagine my own characters in the most random situations that have absolutely nothing to do with the canon story (and it's often how I brainstorm in order to develop the characters). Obviously, that's not how your own imagination works, so we might as well just drop the subject. xD
Because it's a scenario that has to fit a context that would make two characters that would never been in the same place and the same time without a reason to have a reason, which is how they meet. An utterly random encounter would be bland and blatant fanservice, like a terrible fanfiction. But sure, let's drop it if you so want.
Ah, you're referring to Louis? Been hearing and seeing a lot of good stuff about that anime though, I'm interested in watching it myself sometime, and see how Sabre might compare to him. Though I am a bit hesitant from the stop motion intro I saw, which is a bit terrifying. But thank you for bringing that to my attention! ^^
Well, yeah, they're anthropomorphic animals living in a society that's similar to humans. Not sure if that's really uncanny, but I guess I can see what you mean. Good story, now that's got my interest. If there's a solid well written story, then I'm gonna enjoy it.
