"Phew! Well that confirms that."
Thus the silence was finally broken, and so casually at that.
She was actually seeking this outcome?! Inconceivable!
I'm sure that I've "Memory Wiped" the event of my tantrum out of my pare- the both of them after our falling out!
She shouldn't be able to know about my current state!!
"How did you... How did you even know?", I said as I swallowed my shame.
She took a deep sigh: "Clarance, or whatever you want to go by now you 'Ascended Bringer of Misfortune'-"
Oh, High Deities! She even remembered the haughty (desperation) monologue?!
"I've raised my son for nearly 2 decades before he dropped his studies out of the blue and waltzed out.
That's not something I can just forget."
She took a step forward, seemingly unfazed by my inhumane traits:
"Regardless, whether there's truly nothing left of my son within you or not,
I've already told you haven't I?"
Words engraved in my mind began to echo.
"No matter how big and strong or
independent you might become-
you'll forever be our
'Precious little baby boy'."
Did she say those words... despite remembering all that happened that day?
Despite being able to recall all the harsh words I uttered?...
Despite having knowledge of what I currently am?
The h-... My human mother nonchalantly hopped on my back and patted me, officially
making her the first person to ever touch my vulpine features and survived to tell the tale.
"Besides, I'm sure your bark is stronger than your bite; you've barely grown an inch since the college days.
That's not entirely surprising though. You did take after your mother's shorty genes
when you're not parading all that thick fur around~," she giggled while caressing the side of my ear.
How embarrassing.
What an ascended being I'm being right now.Never underestimate moms.
