...... Oops.

"So foxy boy. I've noticed that you've gained some weight since last time we saw each other," she said.
I backed off immediately. I shouldn't be getting this intimate with a mortal, despite my past connection with them.
I'm here to apologize for the sake of my former half. And. Nothing. Else.
When we last called, I told her that I wanted closure (without telling her why obviously).
I am no longer human. I have accepted my fate.
I cannot allow this woman back into my world, not matter how lonely it may be.
... Is that really a fair assessment, however?
Is that really why I want to keep a safe distance? Wasn't I the one who hugged her to begin with?
She didn't seem to take offense to my defensive behavior. In fact, the human lady pressed on with another question:
"From the looks of it, I take it going to the gym has been treating you well my little Whiskers?"
This woman. Her jolly smile is cheery and unsettling at the same time.
How does she even know that?! Something feels off. Way way off.
I'm not her son anymore, she needs to understand that.
I hid my uneasiness and stayed silent.
"Oh don't give me that worried look. Your mother's a nutritionist with her contacts is all.
Don't get your tail in a twist."
What?! They shouldn't be- No it's just an expression...
Her body language and verbose, are they prying for something? Something hidden even to me?
Regardless, something was brewing inside of my very being.
As if the lady smelled blood in the water, she kept her interrogation going.
"Why aren't you being as quiet as a lamb," she continued as she rubbed her chin. After quick a breath, she revealed her joker:
"Is it the cute gym instructor I've been hearing so much about? You never were that good with-"
"NOOO! I-It's NOT what you think, MOM! I can-!" I exclaimed before promptly putting both of my hands to my mouth.
No. Anything but this.
I cracked under pressure.
She pressed way too many buttons too fast.
The social ineptitude caused by my prolonged isolation is biting me in the rear once more.
My tails, ears, claws and other features materialized out onto my humanoid appearance.
There she was, staring at me, wide eyed and standing still.
The morning breeze was the only thing filling the awkward hole our combined silence was leaving behind....... Oops.
