Commentary for October 11, 2019:

This whole sequence is reasonably faithful to the original version of this story told in Eon’s Comic. Shadow arrived and unceremoniously destroyed the device that was supposed to defeat him. But in the original, it wasn’t a portal. To be quite honest, I’m not entirely sure what it was. I think it was supposed to be a device that would drain the energy of the Chaos Emeralds from him or something. Either way, it was quickly destroyed, leading to the same outcome that we have here in this remake.
