Sketchbook 218: Wendigo
Since this is the month of Halloween, I decided that I would draw a monster pic for the month.
I guess I could have done one of the classics like Vampire or Werewolf, but I thought I'd go with one of my favorite monsters instead.
I've always liked the Wendigo since I found out about it many years ago. I do think that it's ubiquitous presence in pop culture and stories nowadays is kind of ruining it a bit, but it's still a classic and terrifying monster in my opinion.
I had fun designing the look of my own Wendigo. I've seen many of them depicted as having traits of Deer, and some depictions being a distorted human appearance. I tried going with the more human appearance while incorporating some deer traits like the antlers and elongated skull. I really wanted to get the feel that it used to be human, basically.
Hope you enjoy it.

For a creature of cold and cannibalism, this wendigo has kind of a nice looking butt :3
You got the scrawniness down here with the spine jutting out and the slightly distended stomach that I heard can be a result of starvation.
I think my favorite parts of the design are the long fingers and the elongated neck. I don't know why I have such strange aesthetic choices when it comes to your pictures. :I

I know, right? It may be wasting away, but at least it kept some of its mass in the right places :P
The spine was probably the most fun part of working on this.
Yeah, the fingers and neck really so a lot for the pic. I think the unnatural body proportions of them help in making the design more terrifying.
